Privacy policy
What this site collects, and why.
Who we are
This site is operated by JIMD Group. Our website address is https://jimdgroup.com/jd1.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, plus the visitor's IP address and browser user agent string, which help with spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address, also called a hash, may be provided to the Gravatar service to see whether you are using it. The Gravatar privacy policy is at automattic.com/privacy. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public alongside it.
Contact form
Messages sent through the contact form are emailed to us and are not published. We use what you send only to reply to your enquiry.
Media
If you upload images to this site, avoid uploading images with embedded location data, known as EXIF GPS. Visitors can download images from the site and extract any location data they contain.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are a convenience so you do not have to fill in your details again next time. They last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we also set cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last two days and screen option cookies last a year. If you select "Remember Me", your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is stored in your browser. It contains no personal data, only the post ID of the article you edited, and it expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images or articles. Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as though you had visited that other website.
Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including tracking that interaction if you have an account and are logged in to them.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely, so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically rather than holding them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on this site, we also store the personal information provided in the user profile. All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time, except that they cannot change their username. Administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including anything you have provided to us. You can also ask us to erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
